HYPNO-BAND
Weight Loss System®
FAQ’s
What is the Hypno-Band system?
The Hypno-Band system is a hypnotherapy system designed to enable weight loss in the clinically obese, specifically those with a high BMI (Body Mass Index).
Who is it designed for?
The Hypno-Band system is designed for those clients who fall into the “obese” range, which is a BMI of 30 or more. The system has been successfully used with clients who have a lower BMI, of >25, and this is at the discretion of the practitioner. The Hypno-Band can be used with clients of ages 16 and higher. It is not recommended to use the system below this age, as children tend to hav a different set of emotional issues, related to food and overeating.
How does it work?
The Hypno-Band is a combination of suggestion, visualization, and cognitive behavioral therapy techniques, which, when combined, help the client to make behavioral changes that make sustained weight loss possible. By using the “Virtual Gastric Band” system, the client accepts the hypnotic suggestion that that they have undergone gastric band surgery, thereby enabling them to eat smaller portions, and have their hunger satisfied earlier. The ‘gastric band’ part of the process is a mechanism that helps the client believe their stomach is smaller, with a capacity for less food.
What are the steps involved?
The Hypno-Band system is used over a series of client sessions. The system is designed to work over 4 or 5 sessions, with an initial intake session, but this can be flexible dependent on the client’s needs. In the initial intake session, an assessment is carried out, to ascertain client suitability for the Hypno-Band system. The process is explained to the client, a medical history is taken, and a client form is completed and signed.
In subsequent sessions, utilizing hypnosis, the client is taken through the different phases of transforming their past habits into new and healthier ones. Being mindful of past behavior patterns, change is brought into place in positive ways, with steady guidance and any necessary modification. This piece is the part that is sometimes missed when people undergo the actual surgical procedure – the behavior modification part, that is so essential for permanent positive outcomes!
Prior to the actual hypnotic banding procedure, the client watches an actual Gastric Banding surgery, so that the visual image of it is familiar to them, once the hypnosis takes place. Since hypnosis uses all or most of our senses, the visual part is important. The client is taken through the ‘surgery’, and recovery portion, and sent home with instructions as they would following a surgical procedure.
There is a follow- up session, after the Hypno-Band procedure, sometimes there may be an additional session, specific to the client’s needs.
The expected weight loss is between 2 and 3 pounds per week, though some people experience as much as 5 pounds a week, in the time directly following the procedure. |
